H-1B Cap Filings Increase As The Calendar Year Ends
As of December 17, 2010, USCIS had received a total of 53,900 H-1B cap subject petitions, an additional 1,500 petitions since the previous week (double the number of filings from the previous week). Total filings against the 20,000 Master’s degree or higher cap had reached 19,700; this past week, 600 petitions had been received compared to the previous week of 400 petitions. Thus the Master’s cap may be reached within the week, while the Regular cap may be reached in January 2011.
